When should I book my newborn session?
It is never too early to schedule your newborn session. Choose a tentative time near your due date and book the session today. When baby arrives we will choose an exact date and time.
What age is best for newborn photos? why?
5-12 days is the best time for newborn photos, because before 5 days mother’s do not always have their milk well established. This is important because if mama is breastfeeding, and it is before 5 days, baby probably hasn’t gotten a nice big full meal. After 5 days baby is a better eater and there is a good supply to feed from.
After 12 days old, babies have been outside the womb long enough that they begin to resist being curled up.
What kind of training have you had in order to handle my baby safely?
Your baby’s comfort and safety is my top priority. I have four children of my own. I treat each and every baby as if it were mine. I believe in newborn lead posing so I will never push your child into doing a pose they are uncomfortable in. I’ve had online and in person training for safely posing newborns as well as, safety and infant CPR. I’m always educating myself and staying up to date with the latest recommendations in this field and those in the healthcare profession.
Are you up to date on all recommended vaccinations?
I am up to date on all recommended vaccinations and have a current flu shot.
What type of cleaning products do you use to clean the studio?
I used to only use natural cleaners on surfaces as well as on fabrics and a sanitizing procedure of steam cleaning items. Increased COVID measures means cleaning more with alcohol, Clorox and Lysol. I also space sessions out so any active ingredient in any product has time to be effective but also neutralized before anyone could come in contact with it.
How do you keep my baby sleepy and comfortable throughout the session?
HEAT! The studio will be very warm. That way when we start to strip baby down they won’t even notice. I have a newborn session workflow that allows me to only disturb baby when necessary throughout the session. I have a lot of patience. I will take direction from your sweet baby about what they like or what they do not. I take my time. Handling babies while they are so young is an art in itself.
